Terms of Service

Welcome to Worldo ("the App", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account, downloading, or using the App, you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms") and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the App.
1. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age required by your local law) to use Worldo. If you are under 18, you confirm that your parent or guardian has reviewed and consented to these Terms on your behalf.
2. Your Account
- You are responsible for keeping your account credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
- You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account.
- You may not create accounts on behalf of others without their explicit consent.
- You may not impersonate any person or misrepresent your affiliation with any person or entity.
- We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
3. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of any applicable law.
- Harass, threaten, stalk, or send unwanted content to other users.
- Upload or share content that is unlawful, defamatory, hateful, sexually explicit, violent, or that infringes the intellectual property or privacy rights of others.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the App, our servers, or other users' accounts.
- Use automated tools, bots, scrapers, or crawlers to collect data from the App.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code from the App except where permitted by law.
- Interfere with or disrupt the App's normal operation, including by submitting fake location data or otherwise manipulating journey records.
- Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit any part of the App without our written permission.
4. Content Moderation and Community Safety
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive behavior, including but not limited to harassment, hate speech, threats, sexually explicit material, illegal content, and content that violates the rights of others.
To keep the community safe, the App provides:
- Report: You can report any user or piece of content directly within the App. Report categories include spam, harassment, inappropriate content, and other violations.
- Block: You can block any user at any time. Blocked users cannot send postcards to you, view your shared content, or interact with you.
- Response time: We commit to reviewing all submitted reports within 24 hours and will take appropriate action, which may include removal of objectionable content, warning, suspension, or permanent termination of the offending account.
If you encounter content or behavior that you believe violates these Terms, please use the in-app Report function. For urgent or severe issues, you may also contact us directly at the email below.
5. Your Content
- You retain ownership of the journey data, photos, notes, postcards, and other content you create in the App ("Your Content").
- By using social features (postcards, friend connections, friend city cards), you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, transmit, store, and display Your Content solely for the purpose of operating those features and delivering them to your intended recipients.
- You are solely responsible for ensuring that Your Content does not violate the rights of others or any applicable law.
- We may remove content that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe creates risk to us or to other users.
6. Location, Motion, and Health Data
- The App collects precise location (GPS) data to record your journeys. Active tracking only occurs when you start a journey, enable Daily mode, or grant background location permission.
- Motion and activity data (Core Motion) is used to improve recording accuracy and to power Lifelog.
- Health data accessed through HealthKit is used solely within the App, is never shared with third parties, and is never used for advertising or data mining.
- You can revoke location, motion, photo, or HealthKit permissions at any time through iOS Settings without losing core App functionality.
7. Subscriptions
Worldo offers an optional Premium subscription that unlocks additional map styles (including our signature Worldo theme and other Mapbox-powered styles) and other premium features.
- Premium Monthly: USD 2.99 per month (or local equivalent shown in the App Store).
- Premium Annual: USD 14.99 per year (or local equivalent shown in the App Store).
- Auto-renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless auto-renewal is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Charges: Payment is charged to your Apple ID at confirmation of purchase. Renewal charges occur within 24 hours prior to the end of the current period at the price listed above (subject to App Store regional pricing).
- Managing your subscription: You can manage your subscription, view renewal dates, or cancel at any time in your App Store account settings (Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions).
- Refunds: All payments are processed by Apple. Refund requests must be submitted to Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com; we do not process payments and cannot issue refunds directly.
Mapbox 24-Hour Free Trial
The first time you select a Mapbox-powered map style, a 24-hour free trial automatically activates. The trial requires no payment, no subscription, and no commitment, and will end automatically after 24 hours. After the trial ends, Mapbox styles are only available with an active Premium subscription. The App will revert to a free style if no Premium subscription is active.
8. Coins and Virtual Items
Worldo offers an optional in-app purchase of "Coins", a virtual currency used to acquire cosmetic items such as avatar equipment.
- Pricing: 1,000 Coins for USD 0.99 (or local equivalent shown in the App Store), one-time purchase.
- Virtual nature: Coins and any items you acquire with Coins have no real-world monetary value and are not redeemable for cash, credit, goods, or services outside the App.
- Non-refundable: Coin purchases are final and non-refundable, except where required by applicable law. Once Coins are spent on virtual items, the transaction is final.
- Non-transferable: Coins are personal to your account and cannot be sold, traded, or transferred to other users or accounts.
- Service termination: If your account is terminated, or if Worldo is discontinued, any unused Coins or acquired virtual items will be forfeited without refund, except where required by law.
- You grant us the right to add, modify, or remove virtual items, and to adjust the price or availability of Coins, at our discretion.
9. Apple's Role and Standard EULA
The App is licensed, not sold, to you for use only under the terms of these Terms and Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement ("Apple Standard EULA"). To the extent of any conflict between these Terms and the Apple Standard EULA, these Terms apply where they grant you greater rights or place lesser obligations on you.
You acknowledge that:
- These Terms are between you and us, not between you and Apple. We are solely responsible for the App and its content.
- Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App.
- In the event the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, who will refund the purchase price (if any). Apple has no other warranty obligation related to the App.
- We, not Apple, are responsible for addressing claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims of non-conformance to legal requirements, and claims arising under consumer protection laws.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and have the right to enforce them against you.
10. Intellectual Property
The App, including its design, source code, graphics, pixel artwork, sound, branding, the "Worldo" name, and the signature Worldo map theme, is owned by us and is protected by copyright, trademark, and other applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works of any part of the App without our prior written permission.
11. Disclaimer of Warranties
Worldo is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free, that journey data will be perfectly accurate, or that synced data will always be available. GPS accuracy depends on your device's hardware, satellite visibility, and environmental conditions; we make no representation that recorded routes are accurate to any specific tolerance.
You are responsible for your own backups. iCloud sync is provided as a convenience, not a guarantee of data preservation.
12. Limitation of Liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we (including our affiliates, contractors, and licensors) shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, including but not limited to loss of profits, loss of data, loss of journeys, or inaccurate location information, whether based in contract, tort, statute, or any other legal theory. Our total aggregate liability arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the App shall not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim, or (b) USD 50.
13. Account Termination and Data Deletion
- You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Account → Delete Account, or by contacting us.
- We may suspend or terminate your account if you materially violate these Terms, engage in behavior that endangers other users or the App, or where required by law.
- Upon account deletion, your personal data is removed from our active systems within 30 days, with backups purged within 90 days, in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
- Sections of these Terms that by their nature should survive termination (including ownership, disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnity, and dispute resolution) will survive.
14. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the App or by updating the "Last updated" date above. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the App.
15. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to its conflict-of-law principles.
Any dispute, claim, or controversy arising out of or relating to these Terms or your use of the App shall first be addressed through good-faith negotiation between you and us via the contact email below. If a dispute cannot be resolved within sixty (60) days of written notice, the parties agree to resolve the dispute through binding arbitration administered by the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre, conducted in English by a single arbitrator.
Notwithstanding the above, you may bring qualifying small-claims actions in your local court of residence where your local consumer-protection laws so permit, and nothing in these Terms limits your statutory consumer rights that cannot be waived under applicable law.
16. Severability and Entire Agreement
If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force. These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and the Apple Standard EULA, constitute the entire agreement between you and us regarding the App and supersede all prior agreements on the subject.
